ST.MORITZ - ENGADIN SKI RESORT

SKIING IN ST.MORITZ AND ENGADIN

The St. Moritz - Engadin ski resort is a wonderful and vast area that combines equipped slopes, snow parks, freeride routes, breathtaking views, long Nordic ski routes and all fully connected by an efficient public transport network, buses, and the Bernina red train.

Certainly one of the best and most beautiful places to ski in the Alps and Switzerland.

The average altitude of the Engadin valley is about 1900m, with a cold and dry continental climate, which guarantees good snow conservation. The ski area combines several ski areas and villages, with hotels and buildings in the Engadin alpine style. Installations and transports can be used with the single ski pass (Engadin ski pass) or individually (for each ski area).

The most famous ski areas are Corviglia, between St. Moritz and Celerina, Corvatsch - Furchellas, between Silvaplana and Sils and Diavolezza - Lagalb towards the Bernina Pass. All the lifts reach an altitude of around 3000m.

Other smaller ski resorts are located in Samedan, Pontresina, Maloja, Zuoz, and La Punt, which are suitable for beginners and schoolchildren.

NORDIC SKIING IN THE ENGADIN

Cross-country and Nordic skiing can be practiced throughout the Engadin plateau, thanks to an extensive network of trails from the Maloja Pass to Zuoz and Pontresina.

Cross-country skiing in the Engadin means skiing on perfect ski slopes, with refreshment booths and changing rooms, public transport links and one of the most beautiful scenery in the Alps, between snow-covered pine forests and three frozen lakes.

SKIING IN ST.MORTIZ AND CELERINA - CORVIGLIA SKI AREA

Corviglia, the mountain above St. Moritz, is the symbol of fantastic skiing in the sun, lake view, worldliness, and legendary Olympic and world competitions. Corviglia is the Engadin area used for the stage of the Ski World Cup.

NUMBERS: 155km of slopes, 24 lifts, from 1720m to 3022m.

Efficient lifts, perfect ski slopes, restaurants, and refuges, a cosmopolitan and worldly atmosphere reflect the popularity of the famous St. Moritz.

In summer the area of Mount Corviglia becomes a reference point for mountain bikers and downhill bikers!

With the "Corviglia Flow Trail, "Foppettas Flow Trail" and "WM Trail" Mountain bikers have a wide choice and fun guaranteed!

HOW TO REACH THE CORVIGLIA SKI AREA

The Corviglia ski area is located behind the town of St. Moritz and can be reached mainly in 2 ways:

_Train from the center of St. Moritz Dorf. Very convenient, especially if you are staying in the city center. The train makes a stop at Chantarella, where you will find 2 excellent restaurants (10min. On foot) then continues to the station of Corviglia. From here you can take the cable car to the top of Piz Nair, where you will have a wonderful view over the entire valley.

_Cable car from St. Moritz Bad to Signal Bahn. An excellent starting point if you are traveling by car, as there is a large car park at the base. Once in Signal, you can move with the chairlifts to reach the best ski slopes.

For winter walkers we recommend the path from St. Moritz up to Salastrains through the house of Heidi, then continue in the direction of Suvretta.

SKIING IN SILVAPLANA AND SILS - CORVATSCH-FURCHELLAS SKI AREA

Corvatsch is the area for connoisseurs: quieter than Corviglia and facing north, it guarantees good snow until late April.

The mountain station is located at 3303 m and offers a wild view of the Bernina glaciers. High-level slopes for good skiers, and a "Snow park and half-pipe" for freestylers at the Murtel station.

Not to be missed is the black slope of Hahnensee, which descends from Giand'Alva and arrives in St. Moritz Bad, through fairytale snowy forests.

NUMBERS: 120km of slopes, 14 lifts, from 1797m to 3303m.

Every Friday evening, the main slope is illuminated, for the Corvatsch Snow night, night skiing and fun in the kiosks on the slopes, with music and dancing.

Recommended stopping for lunch or a special evening at the characteristic Kuhlstahl restaurant in Furchellas, built from an old barn in the middle of the woods.

For dinner they offer the possibility of climbing up through a snowmobile, otherwise, you have to calculate a half-hour walk in the snow.

HOW TO REACH THE CORVATSCH-FURCHELLAS SKI AREA

The slopes of Covatsch-Furchellas are connected by chairlifts, so you can switch from one area to another at any time.

The Corvatsch cable car is located in Surlej, 10 minutes from St. Moritz and the Furchellas cable car in Sils, about 15 minutes from St. Moritz. Both stations have ample parking at the base.

Please note that the ski passes give you the right to use the local buses free of charge. It is, therefore, possible to ski in the morning in one area and the afternoon in another.

SKIING AT THE BERNINA PASS - DIAVOLEZZA LAGALB SKI AREA

A freeride paradise in the spectacular amphitheater of the Bernina massif, opposite the majestic Piz Palù. The Diavolezza - Lagalb ski area is suitable for expert skiers, free riders, good snowboarders and ski-tourists. NUMBERS: 32km of slopes, 4 lifts, from 2091m to 3006m, long Freeride routes.

The famous off-piste itinerary on the Morteratsch Glacier is an unmissable icon of this area, but to be tackled safely, possibly with a guide! On full moon days, the Diavolezza cable car is opened and you can ski in the moonlight only, for an unforgettable dream experience.

We recommend this small ski area above all for the beauty of the environment in which you are immersed and for the off-piste track on the Morterasch glacier.

The Diavolezza refuge restaurant, near the top station of the cable car, is also a perfect place for non-skiers, both in winter and summer. From here you can enjoy a unique view of the Alps and enjoy the sun or Engadine cuisine.

Mountaineers and ski-tourists have the opportunity to venture along the numerous routes of the Bernina group, or in summer to tackle the via Ferrata upstream of the cable car station and the beautiful mountain trails on ridges and glaciers.

HOW TO REACH THE DIAVOLEZZA LAGALB SKI AREA

It is possible to reach Diavolezza by train, bus or private car. Trains depart from St. Moritz about every half hour and usually need to be changed in Pontresina. For motorists, there is a large car park at the station of the two cable cars.

Please note that all trains and buses are included with the ski pass. The trip by cable car takes about 10 minutes.
