An oasis for nature lovers.
This island is located just in front of the village of Sala Comacina and can be reached by boat in a couple of minutes from the village of Ossuccio.
There is an antique museum in Ossuccio and there is also the church of Santa Maria Magdalene, with its famous small gothic tower bell.
The little island played an important role in the history of Como, from the Roman times up to the early Middle Ages and its history is revealed as you walk around the archaeological sites. A visit to the church ruins of Basilica S. Eufemia, Santa Maria del Portico and San Pietro in Castello are a must. The white church of San Giovanni Battista should also be visited.
