CERVINO - MATTERHORN SKI PARADISE

SKIING IN CERVINIA AND ZERMATT CERVINO-MATTERHORN SKI PARADISE

The Cervino-Matterhorn Ski Paradise is a huge ski area in the shadow of the famous Cervino-Matterhorn pyramid, distributed to the south on the Italian side of Breuil-Cervinia and to the north on the Swiss side of Zermatt.

Thanks to the presence of the famous Cervino-Matterhorn, 355 km of slopes and 50 ski lifts including cable cars, trains, and chairlifts, it is certainly one of the largest and most complete ski areas in the Alps.

The single ski pass is valid for the whole Cervino-Matterhorn Ski Paradise area (called international ski pass), alternatively, it is possible to ski only on one of the two slopes, north from Zermatt and south from Cervinia, by purchasing the relevant national ski pass.

The highest point of the whole area reaches 3899m, an important altitude that you can easily feel on your legs, moreover the temperature in the colder months can get very low below zero. Certainly a fantastic ski area, but one that requires good training in order to fully enjoy all that it has to offer.

Tourists who do not ski can take advantage of the cable cars and funiculars, to go to altitude and admire one of the most beautiful and famous views of the Alps.

The most famous attraction is the Little Matterhorn, Klein Matterhorn in German, home of the Glacier Palace, an exhibition area created inside the glacier, with adjacent panoramic restaurant, at an altitude of 3883m.

NUMBERS: 322km of slopes, 52 lifts, from 1562m (Zermatt) to 3899m - Various itineraries for Freeriders with gradients of over 2000m.

"The excitement already hits you at the gates of Cervinia or Zermatt, before you even get on a cable car and start skiing. Here everything is immense and dominated by the imposing figure of the Matterhorn.

The lifts are of a high standard, especially the new cable car that connects Plateu Rosa to Piccolo Cervino and the organization is impeccable. The off-piste trails are demanding and often on glaciers, it is necessary to pay a lot of attention and we suggest to ride them in the company of an Alpine Guide. The structures at high altitude, restaurants, and refuges, are large and always panoramic, also suitable for walks, also for tourists who do not ski.

We remind you that Zermatt is an alpine tourist village entirely without a car and accessible only by train, which makes it even more fascinating, especially in the evening, after a day on skis. "

FREERIDE AND ELISKI ON THE CERVINIA AND ZERMATT SKI PARADISE

The Cervino-Matterhorn Ski Area, between Cervina and Zermatt, is an unmissable destination, also for off-piste skiing and ski mountaineering lovers. Freeriders can find an outlet for their impulses by descending the slopes to the north and south of the Alps in the shadow of the Matterhorn - Matterhorn and Monte Rosa.

Most freeride or off-piste routes can be reached via the ski lifts, the Klein Mattehorn just above Plateau Rosa, reaching an altitude of 3883m. It is also possible to continue and reach higher altitudes through ski mountaineering itineraries (ascent with sealskins) to the peaks that join the ski area to Monte Rosa.

The local mountain guides offer numerous off-piste and freeride itineraries, with movements by helicopter, Heliski Cervino Matterhorn, and connections with lifts, to venture safely between the valleys and the ski areas of Cervinia and Zermatt.

SAFETY AND AVALANCHE DANGER

The altitude reached by the Cervino-Matterhorn Ski Paradise, the technical difficulties of the freeride routes and the harsh environment of the high mountains, require a lot of caution, because of the danger of avalanches and in some cases, for the necessary alpine passages.

We strongly advise you to tackle these well-equipped routes, with Artva, shovel, probe, airbags, and GPS and, if necessary, with abseiling kits (rope with harness and carabiners), possibly in the company of a mountain guide.

The technical quality of the off-piste routes and the length require good experience and training in off-piste skiing. In case of emergency, contact the emergency number 112 and provide your GPS position.

We recommend that you also bring with you a front battery and a thermal sheet, very useful in case of difficulty and emergency.
