ARONA AND THE SAN CARLONE STATUE
Arona is on the south bank of Lake Maggiore. The historical centre, of medieval origin, is dominated by Parco della Rocca where the fort ruins, destroyed by Napoleone Bonaparte, lie.
The statue of St. Carlo Borromeo was also errected here in the second half of the 16th century. The statue is actually the second tallest statue in the world (23m tall), after the statue of Liberty in New York.
Arona’s popularity is mainly due to its excellent geographic position, which has also achieved a favourable logistic condition for commercial trading.
If what you are looking for is seductive shopping, a relaxing moment or a night out on the town, this is definitely the right place for you .
